🎄Mulled Wine

A classic mulled wine infused with spices and citrus, perfect for cozy winter evenings.

Mulled wine is a timeless winter warmer, blending the richness of red wine with the aromatic depth of spices like cinnamon, star anise, and cloves. The addition of orange concentrate and apple provides a subtle sweetness and citrusy brightness that perfectly balances the bold flavors. Gently heated to preserve the wine’s character, each sip offers a cozy and comforting sensation, ideal for chilly evenings. The final touch of fresh orange slices and cinnamon stick garnish elevates both the visual appeal and the festive charm. Whether enjoyed alone or shared with loved ones, mulled wine is the quintessential drink for celebrating the warmth and joy of the winter season.

Ingredients

  • Water: 100ml

  • Small Apple: 1 (chopped)

  • Orange Syrup: 40ml

  • Cinnamon Stick: 1

  • Star Anise: 1

  • Cloves: 3

  • Red Wine: 400ml

  • Orange Slices: Half (for cooking) + as needed (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Prepare Spiced Water:
In a pot, combine water, chopped apple, orange syrup, cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves. Heat on low for about 5 minutes until sugar dissolves and spices release their aroma.

  2. Add Red Wine:
Pour in 400ml of red wine and add orange slices. Stir gently to mix.

  3. Heat the Wine:
Keep the heat low and warm the wine to about 70°C-80°C, avoiding boiling to prevent alcohol evaporation. Heat for 10-15 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  4. Strain and Serve:
Turn off the heat, strain the wine to remove spices and orange slices, then pour into serving glasses.

  5. Garnish and Enjoy:
Add fresh orange slices and a cinnamon stick to the glass for garnish. Serve immediately.

🏷 Tips

Avoid Boiling: Ensure the wine stays below boiling point to retain the alcohol and flavor.

Sweeten to Taste: Add honey or maple syrup to adjust sweetness and enhance the flavor.

Festive Presentation: Garnish with fresh berries, rosemary sprigs, or sugar-rimmed glasses for a holiday vibe.
